Sunday League Report 25th October

We will start this week with the Sunday Senior Cup where the all Yarmouth replay between El Sol & Newtown Golfers produced 7 goals with El Sol winning 4-3 to book their 3rd round tie with Quebec Rovers this weekend.

Due to the replay above there were just two matches in the first division where Camden Tavern thrashed division new boys Nothing Special 8-1. Hembsy SSC picked up their first point of the season with a good 1-1 draw at Arches.

The second division saw title favourites Windmill record a fine 5-1 win against Caesars Bar.

A close encounter at Rollesby saw the game end all square at 3 each in their match with Belton United whilst in a rarity on Sunday mornings Gorleston Albion and Camden Tavern Res failed to produce a goal. The local derby at Hembsy saw Acle Wanderers edge to a narrow 3-2 victory.

The third division saw a first win for Mariners Compass as they beat Venture Albion 4-2.

Rumbold Arms fought back from 3-1 behind to draw 3-3 with Memphis Belton whilst Sun FC eased to a 4-1 win at Carpathians.

The final game saw an easy 7-1 win for Star & Garter at league new boys Bohemians who are finding the transition into adult football quite tough.

Clubs are reminded that the scores should be phoned through to Glyn Gray by no later than 6pm on the day of the match. Failure to do so will result in a fine. Glyn can be contacted on 01493 651261 or 07504 991058.

Following two weeks of disruption the league returned to normality this week with an almost full programme of fixtures, which centred largely around the county cup competitions, which were put back from last weekend.

In the Sunday Senior Cup the all Yarmouth affair on the Beaco between Newtown Golfers and El Sol ended all square at 2 all and will have to be replayed this coming weekend.

Camden Tavern eased into the third round with a 5-1 win at Sprowston Wanderers whilst Nothing Special were on the wrong end of a heavy 11-0 defeat by holders Marlborough.

In the Sunday Intermediate Cup Windmill put the moles to rest 13-0 whilst Camden Tavern Res had a good 3-2 win against Heartsease Casuals.

Belton United kept up their fine start to the season with a 7-4 win against Vale Longo whilst Gorleston Albion were handed a walkover against Retreat.

The Junior Cup saw an easy 7-0 win for Rumbold Arms against FNC United whilst Star & Garter defeated fellow Yarmouth side Mariners Compass 5-1 to book their 3rd round place.

There were some league matches played which all produced plenty of goals. In the first division Archers recorded a 4-2 victory at Sunningdale who have now lost all 4 games whilst Hembsy have lost all three as they went down 5-3 at Norton in a real humdinger during which Hembsy led 1-0 and 3-2.

Sunday League Report 11th October

Following the entire abandonment of all fixtures on the 3rd October, this week there was still a ban on council pitches but some games did take place where clubs have their own private pitches and all the action took place in the Norfolk County Cups.

In the Senior Cup there was a good 3-2 victory for Sunningdale Boys away at Hainford whilst Arches bowed out in extra time losing 3-1.

Norton Athletic were given a tall order following the dismissal of their keeper as early as the third minute and they went on to lose 4-1 at Earlham United.

Ceasars Bar progresses in the Intermediate Cup winning 3-09 at Deopham whilst Rollesby were unlucky to lose by a single goal at Tilney Royals, a game in which Rollesby struck the woodwork twice. Hembsy FC were bowled over by the Globe Bowls Club 7-1.

Onto the Junior Cup where Memphis Belton recorded a good 4-0 victory over Labas. Unfortunately for the league Crown Stores lost 5-2 at Briston and Sun FC suffered a 5-1 defeat to Thetford Abbey United.

All games scheduled in the county competitions last week that were not played will now take place this Sunday.

Clubs are reminded that the scores should be phoned through to Glyn Gray by no later than 6pm on the day of the match. Failure to do so will result in a fine. Glyn can be contacted on 01493 651261 or 07504 991058.
