League Report 17th October

It was a very successful day for the league in the Senior Cup as all bar one side progressed to the third round.

The biggest winners were Camden Tavern who thumped Catton 12-0.

Windmill returned from St Faiths with a comfortable 5-0 success whilst there were also wins for the three home teams. El Sol won a seven goal thriller 4-3 against Norwich Busmen whilst Gt Yarmouth Town won through more comfortably 3-0 against Hainford YCOB. Rollesby had a high scoring 7-3 victory against Aylsham Sunday to book their 3rd round place.

The one team to leave the competition were Memphis Belton who crashed to a 7-0 reverse at St Faiths.

We were not quite as successful in the Intermediate cup as just three sides progressed. They were Yarmouth White Sox who in an all league affair beat Lichfield Arms 3-1, Venture Albion who won 2-0 at Reindeer and Martham Sunday who won by a solitary against Maid Marion.

Sun FC went down by the only goal at Ribs Rovers whilst Carpathians found Taverham United too strong as they lost 6-2, whilst Leisureland went out 6-0 at Hockering.

Gorleston Albion Reserves went out 4-2 at Poringland Wanderers Reserves.

Gorleston Rangers remain in the competition but will have to travel to Ashill Harts for the replay following their 1-1 draw.

In the one league game played it was a local derby at Hembsy where the Sports & Social Club went down 5-2 to Hembsy FC.

Clubs are reminded that the scores should be phoned through by the home team to Glyn Gray by no later than 6pm on the day of the match. Failure to do so will result in a fine of £25 as per rule 11b in the handbook. Glyn can be contacted on 01493 651261 or 07504 991058.

Also all clubs have to submit a result card to registrations secretary Steve Bishop for any competitive match they play by the Wednesday following the game. Failure to do so will result in a fine of £20.

The fines and rules are clearly stated in the hand book and already this season we have had to issue several fines for clubs not adhering to the requirements of running a side within this league.
